The article shows the place of women chess players on the world chess stage. From ancient times to present, it is believed that men play chess much better than women. In this article, the hypothesis of the influence of gender stereotypes on the game of women chess players is proposed as a reason. During the study, an online 2 match of 2 games was played between 15 male chess players and 15 female chess players. Among them there are both Kazakhstani and foreign chess players of the same rank. In the first match was analyzed the indicator when women chess players were not provided with information about the opponent, and the indicator of the game when they knew that their opponent was a man in the second match. In addition, chess players aged 18-30 were interviewed about their personal thoughts related to gender stereotypes. Also the achievements of Kazakh women chess players were being analyzed.
